Marketing Intern

Overview	9 month placement from September 2025 – June 2026 The intern will support the Marketing Manager and marketing team as we deliver important strategic projects alongside our BAU activity of supporting members, B2B and B2C marketing, product support and promotion and internal communications. The key projects include significant branding work and upgrade of our website. The role holder is expected to be pro-active, innovative and ready to take ownership for delivering assigned activities, with pressing deadlines, in a regulated, member-focused building society. Key Responsibilities: As a marketing intern, you will gain experience across a variety of marketing functions and contribute directly to meaningful projects. You will: Support aspects of the planning and launch of a major new initiative, including co-ordinating the development of marketing collateral, launch events and creating promotional materials Assist in the execution of a branding project, including the development of materials, content and stakeholder communications Make suggestions about how to blend our traditional mutual values with modern innovation, always providing an exceptional customer experience to our members and ensuring good financial outcomes for them Conduct market and competitor research and analysis to enhance our marketing strategies Create engaging content for social media, email campaigns and membership communication and publications to strengthen colleague and member engagement Contribute to the development of content and structure for our website upgrade, creating and adding content and working alongside the web development agency Analyse campaign performance metrics to optimise future strategies With the Marketing Manager and creative agency, create, update and produce promotional material Carry out activities to support the marketing plan delivery for both B2B and B2C channels Write online content for social media channels and track, analyse and report on engagement levels Prepare materials for B2B presentations and support sales and marketing B2B events including preparation of promotional material and content Provide administrative support to ensure the success of ongoing marketing initiatives, campaign delivery, reporting, customer research, video production, photography, data analysis, surveys and promotional opportunities Our requirements: You will: Be studying for (or have recently completed) a marketing degree and be looking for a third year work placement or internship Demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and a strong knowledge of branding and marketing Possess great organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously Have a working knowledge of email marketing/social media platforms including X (Twitter), LinkedIn and google analytics. Overview	Purpose: Lead the Commercial team to deliver the Society’s ambitious growth plans and other strategic objectives. Leadership of all mortgage and savings sales & marketing activity including product development and management, distribution strategy and influencing the entire mortgage proposition through design of the lending policy and service delivery. Development of strategic marketing plans aimed at new member acquisition, member retention and referral based on a defined customer experience and achieving commercial targets. Challenging operational processes to correct gaps in the member experience through all delivery channels. Key Responsibilities: Channels Establish/maintain key relationships for services to which/from members are referred including intermediaries Design/ implement a compelling member and intermediary proposition to achieve agreed commercial targets Identify and onboard other distribution channels, where appropriate, including giving consideration to aggregators Work closely with the Director of Operations to build and maintain a high-quality mortgage book Customers/Members Assume first line responsibility for consumer duty, ensuring the Society complies with all aspects of the Consumer Duty Act and provides good financial outcomes for customers/members Carry out annual Consumer Duty review and report, including annual product reviews Identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes and implement changes as appropriate Monitor market trends and regulatory updates to stay ahead of changes that may impact consumer duty With other members of ExCo, foster a culture of fair treatment for members Brand/Marketing: Produce end ensure delivery of the Marketing Strategy in line with the corporate plan Ensure all literature, website and promotional material meets regulatory standard Lead initiatives to enhance the firm’s consumer duty framework, encompassing new technology adoptiona dn process optimisation. Identify and develop new relationships that reflect emerging opportunities to build the Society’s reputation. Product Development: Plan and provision of mortgage and savings products within the limits set by BSOCS. Develop new product proposals to meet member needs and support the Corporate Plan Work closely with the Treasury team and Finance Director in the development and pricing of relevant products Change Management: Be attuned to developments in political, social/economic, competitor (market dynamic), technological (digitisation) and regulatory (IFRS) environments. Use this insight to inform strategy and change initiatives. Act as Sponsor to major initiatives and projects as required, ensuring good governance and timely delivery Leadership: Lead, nurture, inspire and develop the teams to ensure their capabilities are aligned to the future needs of the Society Establish excellent communication channels with all colleagues to ensure they are engaged and motivated by the Society’s Mission and Purpose. Other Responsibilities Contribute to the strong and responsible governance of the Society by fully discharging duties as a member of the Society’s Executive Committee and other relevant committees and working groups Maintain good working knowledge of the legislative, regulatory, and financial framework in which the Society operates. Ensure the output of all direct reports adhere to all audit and compliance requirements and Society Policy and Procedure. Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets. Other requirements: Senior Manager Comply with the appropriate Senior Manager Regime Functions, Prescribed Responsibilities and Business Activities that fall within the Statement of Responsibilities. As an approved person, comply with the FCA’s Statements of Principle, Code of Practice for Approved Persons (APER) and the criteria for Fit and Proper, and must provide information to enable the Society to make Fit and Proper assessments on an ongoing basis. As an approved person, ensure that all activity and that of direct reports complies with the relevant sections of the Building Societies Act 1986 and the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and any blocks of the FCA/PRA Handbook which apply to those areas of the business for which you have responsibility. Your experience will be in regulated financial services with a UK firm leading either savings, mortgages or both. You will be ambitious and eager to contribute at Executive Committee level and able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and experience. You are likely to have had first line responsibility for consumer duty and able to demonstrate a solid understanding of relevant regulation. You will have an impressive record of delivery and the ability to juggle major projects and initiatives with business as usual. You will have a track record of launching new products and networking internally and externally. Strong relationships with intermediaries would be helpful as would a comfort and interest in emerging technology for business use.
